Born out of Chicago's vibrant music scene The New Fuse has emerged as a distinct original sound that transcends classification. Genres like funk, blues, rock, jazz do come to mind but more often do the descriptors energy, passion, intensity. It is a sound marinated with decades of experience playing, studying, and living music of all varieties. From classical to rock, Latin to blues and funk the members of "The Fuse", founder/bassist, Shane Davies, guitar/vocalist, Brent Kimbrough, saxophone/vocalist, Rodney Brown and drummer/percussionist Ben Scholz have an unparalleled palate of influences free of boundaries. Rock tempered by jazz, blues and funk flavored by Latin rhythms - all of these are the elements that make The New Fuse a force of original progressive music. It's the welcoming openness of The New Fuse's music that has captured audiences diverse in age, gender, race, class. No band can be all things to all people, but with The New Fuse there's bound to be something in there for you, and if not, that could change at any moment.
Founded on a commitment to evolution, The New Fuse has developed into a creative juggernaut hell bent on improving, expanding their original repertoire. Each group member has a prolific propensity toward unforced composition and a desire to capture the songs, melodies born out of life. From the finest music school in the nation to the streets of Chicago the source of knowledge and inspiration for their original music runs deep. No topics are avoided in the poetry of their lyrics; from politics to love to poverty, corporate greed and spirituality The New Fuse believes strongly in harmonic and melodic depth in everything they do. This is not to say that their music is always complex or cerebral because in every song this band performs there’s a danceable groove either overtly pulsing or delicately weaving into the listener. To date, The New Fuse has not failed bringing an inspired performance to every situation and evoking the muses in both dancers, listeners and musicians alike.
The New Fuse is busy pushing their sophmore album release From The Outside and hitting the streets hard by playing midwestern venues and festivals on a weekly basis. Since the release of the new album in early 2011 the band has headlined Jammin' On The Wolf Music Festival and also performed at the inaugural Shoe Fest down in Stonehouse Park, Illinois along with playing some of the top venues in cities around the midwest such as Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, Quad Cities, Bloomington, Peoria, Charleston, Dekalb, New Holland, Lafayette, Indianapolis, Carbondale, Springfield and many places in between.
